Establishing Professional Contacts

For this week's assignments I decided to make connections with two countries outside of the Unites States as required. I have sent emails and is currently awaiting on further communication. I choose the countirs Japan and Jamaica, as I am originally from Jamaica but I currently live in Japan. I am hoping that some relationship is establish as in studying those far in the degree my eyes have been opened to the diversity in the early childhood education systems around the world. The issues and trends in early childhood education are global and the changes will affect the children, parents and educators alike. For the next seven weeks I will be able to share what you have learned with my colleagues. Above all, enjoy getting to know what future colleagues from around the world can tell you about current issues and trends.

I choose the Canadian Association for Young Adults as in the future I will be establishing my kindergarten in Canada. From the website http://cayc.ca/ , the mission statement reads "the CAYC exists to provide a voice on critical issues related to the quality of life of all young children and families". After initially sending correspondence to two early childhood representatives in Jamaica and Japan I decided to also send to the CAYC, as we are not limited to only two.

The aim of the Canadian Association got Young adults is
  • To influence the direction and quality of policies and programs that affects the development and well being of young children in Canada.
  • To provide as forum for the members of Canada’s early childhood communities to support one another in providing developmentally appropriate programs for young children.
  • To promote and provide opportunities for professional development for those charged with the care and education of young children.
  • To promote opportunities for effective liaison and collaboration with all those responsible for young children.
  • To recognize outstanding contributions to the well being of young children.

  1. Wow! That's what I love about attending Walden, the diversity of students and all that we can learn from eachother. IF you don't mind me asking, what made you go live in Japan? I have a cousin that moved there from the U.S. to learn Japanese and he now teaches and permanently resides there.

I also think it's great that you are looking into Canada and that you are going to open a Kindergarten there. How did that come about? You are so interesting!

Good luck with your contacts. I also emailed Cuba and Peru because those are my ethnic countries, but I haven't heard back either. I hope they contact us soon!

Good Luck to you again! I look forward to working with you in the upcoming weeks.
