When I think of the very first week of this course to the eight week of this course I realized that a lot of work has been done in a relatively short period. Research involves a lot of work, notwithstanding that, I can now understand the different aspects that make a great research study. I now have a netter understanding on how to present and conduct a research situation and to present the facts pf the studies in a way to ensure that ethical procedures are followed and accuracy is achieved.
My ideas about the nature of doing research have changed by the different methods involved in creating a final study. I understand the importance of examining key factors in documents, where to read first and what to focus on. Importantly, not to be intimidated by the word "research".
With the aspect of planing, designing and conducting research in early childhood it is important to develop a research topic and to make steps on how to execute each step successfully.
Some of the challenges that I encountered was developing a strong research question. I had a lot of trouble developing exactly what I wanted to find and how to properly explain that through the form of a question. It took a great deal of time and analyzing of the purpose of what I was trying to do in order for me to meet that challenge and properly manage it. As well as recognizing a valid hypothesis, but I eventually understood these challenges by continually reading over the terms.
To Early Childhood Professional, to researchers, to my fellow classmates I give three cheers for the hard work involved in this field. I have a better appreciation and respect for the work that is given in such a demanding and challenging field but in the end, very rewarding.
I also found developing a research question was difficult. I had a lot of ideas about what I wanted to further investigate but how to pose that in a question form was difficult. It is nice to hear that I am not the only one.
ReplyDeleteHi Kalisa, I enjoyed reading your post. I too found refining my research question to a manageable size to be a challenge. There are so many details and each of them as important in the development of the study and the actual research process itself. I also agree that we have covered a lot of information in the past eight weeks, but each week presented information in such a way that it was very understandable and built upon the work of the previous week. I look forward to learning more from you in upcoming classes. Cindy Ferguson
ReplyDeleteKalisa, I agree with you about how tricky it was to analyze the purpose of what I doing and making it work within the guidelines of what we needed to do for our simulation. I appreciate researchers so much more now too! Carolyn
ReplyDeleteHi Kalisa,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your post. Finally we have come to the end of this class. I have gained a lot of insight by taking this research class. I have learned how to identify a good research by following all the criteria guidelines. This is something I did not know prior to taking the class. I used to think that online information that looked reputable was good or genuine research, but now I know how to apply guidelines to identify a good research. I appreciate the fact that researchers have Ethical guideline procedures to follow in conducting their research. As an early childhood educator, I appreciate all the research which has been done in early childhood education to give us information on how to better serve our children.
Thank you so much for all the contribution you made in this class. I learned a lot from your discussions.

Kalisa, Research does involve a lot of work and a lot of time. In just 8 weeks we have learned so much about research that will help us in our journey to excellence in the classroom. I have enjoyed reading your posts and I wish you the best of luck in your future classes. Thank you for sharing throughout the weeks! - Brittany
